I've finally (almost) recovered from the rigours of Lotusphere which include:
It now seems I'm getting the cold that effected Libby and others. I'm sure this is actually due to the items listed above and not due to 6000 geeks being in relatively close proximity to each other in an air-conditioned environment.
For those of you who weren't fortunate enough to be there (and I'll single out Ben Rose just to rub it in even more) here's a summary of what was announced. It's only brief and is more eloquently put - and with more authority as I was on the Product Showcase with hadsl for 3 days) by others such as Ben Poole, Julian Robichaux, Greyhawk (aka John Roling) and Ed Brill.
Finally, to all the old friends, it was great to see you all again. To those people I'd not met before, great to see you. And to everyone, see you next January in Orlando?

- SameTime 7.5 Lotus has
finally updated (and WELL overdue) the SameTime client so you now have
Rich Text and Emoticons. On the server there are controls to interface
with AIM, Yahoo Messenger and GoogleTalk. I heard some mention of VoIP
"integration" with Skype but I haven't gotten my head around
that yet
. There's a client for Mac (that'll keep Bruce
happy), Linux (may-or-may-not be interesting to Wild
Bill) and Windoze. That's
just the chat stuff. Online meetings have had an overhaul too but I didn't
get any details on that.
- Hannover A working version (as far as I'm aware it was a working version) of Hannover was shown. But don't get confused. This is NOT RNext. The Notes client will run stand-alone or as part of the Workplace Managed Client. There's support for composite applications which I think is very similar to the technology in Webshpere Portal's Click-To-Action where updating data in one application will automatically update that information in another. In Portal this could be "hard-wired" or "dynamic". I'm not sure on how it works in Hannover. Apparently, the interface isn't as radically different as the initial screenshots showed - I think they've (re)-included smart-icons and the workspace - but a less-radical change to the UI will probably encourage people to use it rather than "frightening" them away.
- Other Stuff There were announcements on something called Workplace Forms and other Workplace items, lots of stuff on Blackberry - including SameTime client running on that platform - and some improvements and additions to Domino Domain Monitoring.
Finally, to all the old friends, it was great to see you all again. To those people I'd not met before, great to see you. And to everyone, see you next January in Orlando?
