Do you know who you are?

Since starting this blog it's changed from being known as Roy's blog to The OldGit. Why?

Everyone wants to be an individual, to make their own mark, to be known for who they are.

In today's high speed, "I'm alright Jack", "look after numero uno", my broadband connection is faster than your braodband connection world (sorry Bill but we've all got higher speed connections that you!!!) it's hard to find that unique identity.

It's not that I want to be noticed particularly (although I do like to be recognised - not just at my local pub) more that I want to be seen as an individual. I'm not spectacularly clever and I don't think I hold any radical points-of-view, but as Bill Buchan often says, "why was I born rich instead of beautiful?", or is it "why was I born beautiful instead of rich?".

If people start reffering to be as TheOldGit rather than as Roy (or Doormouse as some would have me known after the L-Bonia congress meeting in Brussels) all I ask is that they remember who I really am! Just another "Honest Joe" trying to make my way in this ever more unforgiving world.

BTW. I just recevied a bit of Spam email from an organisation I'm not going to give crendence to with the subject of "2 step bill elimination - Guaranteed Approval".

Sorry Bill, now you see why I can't even bring myself to read the message

PS I'll expand a bit more on the subject of identity in the coming weeks as it's a subject very close to my heart.
